Mounting Flat Screen TV

My husband is getting a 50 in flat screen for Christmas. He wants to mount it on the wall. Any ideas of how to decorate around/under it?? I’m afraid the wall is going to look bare with only the TV there.

I’m trying to drill with my 9.5v drill set. But after about 1.5 inches, I cannot drill into the wall anymore. This is a 2005 house at the place right above the fire place. stud sensor said it’s the right place. I wonder if stud sensor found a steel beam. But even if it’s steel I should be able to drill into it with max drill setting. I’m not sure if anyone have good advice for me.

Well, I actually assembled all of the rest of the tv console stand, but having trouble figuring out how to mount it to the spine of the tv console. None of the million screws seem to not work or is too short. Anyone had this problem and know how to fix it?

I mounted our 19 inch flat screen tv on the wall. Now on a fairly regular basis, I need to push back on the tv to get the picture to come back. Can the mounting brackets cause pressure on the screen and cause it to fade out? If so, how can I alleviate this problem? Thank you for any advice!
